Carpenter’s Club

As a member of the Carpenter’s Club, you have a hand in building every house for every family we serve. The Carpenter’s Club provides an opportunity to join a group of like-minded individuals passionate about Habitat’s mission to eliminate poverty housing from the face of the Earth. Depending upon your desire, every time Habitat Choptank dedicates a home, you make a commitment to donate a set amount. That set amount and consistent giving makes a real difference and allows us to effectively plan for the future.

It’s easy to join! Just fill out the form below. We will send you an update each time a home is dedicated with instructions to donate.

Community Investment Tax Credits

Bringing together the pieces that put housing back to work.
Community Investments Tax Credits (CITC) support 501(c)(3) nonprofits by awarding allocations of State tax credits for use as incentives to encourage individual and business giving to benefit local projects and services.

Individuals and businesses that make charitable contributions benefit by:

  • Reducing their tax liability.
  • Helping Habitat Choptank achieve an essential community goal.
  • Making a targeted community impact.
  • Improving community relations and increasing their visibility.

For more information about Habitat Choptank’s allocation of CITC and to apply, contact us at 410-476-3204 or by emailing You may also visit the Department of Housing & Community Development’s information page.

IRA Charitable Giving

Did you know that if you are 70½ or older, there is a special provision that allows you to make charitable gifts directly from your Individual Retirement Accounts (IRAs)? These are called “Qualified Charitable Distributions” and individuals can make these gifts up to a total of $100,000 a year.
Amounts given this way are free from federal income tax even if you don’t normally itemize your tax deductions. The funds directed to charitable purposes also count toward your minimum distribution amount and do not increase your reportable income in ways that could result in other taxes being due.
Check with your IRA administrator or accountant for more information!

Planned Giving

Bring hope to future generations of families in need
Your support now makes it possible for us to reach out today to families in our communities who need hope and a helping hand. But when you give to Habitat for Humanity Choptank through your estate or long-term financial plans, you are forging your life legacy with our housing ministry and ensuring that later generations can secure decent, safe and affordable housing.

If you are updating your will, you can consider adding Habitat Choptank as a recipient using the following simple language:
After fulfilling other provisions, I give, devise and bequeath ____% of the rest, residue and remainder of my estate (or $_______ if a specific amount) to Habitat for Humanity Choptank.

The Habitat for Humanity Choptank Charitable Gift Annuity is another option and is available through the Mid-Shore Community Foundation (MSCF). The Mid-Shore Community Foundation will provide the annuity to donors who wish to choose the Habitat for Humanity Choptank Fund at MSCF as the designated charity for their annuity.

For more information about including Habitat Choptank in your will or the Gift Annuity option, please contact us at 410-476-3204 or by emailing
