25 in 5 is Habitat Choptank's initiative to enable more hardworking low-income families to improve their housing condition.

In 2010 and after 18 years of service, Habitat Choptank completed its 50th home with was sold to home buyer Rowena Potter. While this is a shining example of what a community can accomplish when it comes together to address an important need, many more of our working neighbors are living in substandard housing. Our experience shows that with the education, support, and interest-free loans that Habitat provides, many of these families, working alongside local volunteers, are able to improve their housing situation. At the same time, neighborhoods are transformed for the benefit of everyone in our community.

In response to this urgent need, Habitat Choptank's 25 in 5 initiative set the goal of completing 25 homes over a five year period ending 2015. In an effort to broaden the scope and impact of the mission, this bold plan has been expanded to serve  more than 25 families through both energy efficient new home construction and housing repairs.

We're making progress!  15 homes completed through 25 in 5:

  • Unit 401 at 31 Clay Street, Easton
  • 210-A Brooks Lane, St. Michaels
  • 703 Wright Street, Cambridge
  • Unit 402 at 31 Clay Street, Easton
